Top Books of 2024
My personal read ranking of the year
It’s that time again. One year is ending and another is coming anew, and we all back on the things we’ve experienced in the past year… and then rank them!
As in my previous editions of this annual list, these are my personal top of books I read for the first time in 2024, not necessarily published in 2024, in no particular order.
Bookshops & Bonedust by Travis Baldree
An actually really good prequel, this tale takes us to Viv the orc’s bounty hunting days when she is benched for an injury and helps a local bookstore owner get her groove back.
Giovanni’s Room by James Baldwin
Some things are classics for a reason — a depiction of queer life as a gay man in 1950s Paris that ends with a bitter, heart-wrenching end.
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder trilogy by Holly Jackson
This YA trilogy of amateur sleuth Pip podcasting her way through the solving a series of intertwined mysteries underpinning the dark side of the very community where she lives escalates with stakes and gasps through each of the three books; an excellent audio production.
